Photographer Honors Rescue Dogs With Photo Series

Italian photographer Dan Bennino adopted his dog, Rothko, from a shelter in Turin.

His new best friend made him he realize “how similar dogs are to writers: speaking through their expressions, sounds and movements, telling you everything while saying nothing, just like an author would do with the words in a poem.”

This realization inspired him to create Poetic Dogs, a series in which he photographed nineteen dogs that live at Rothko’s former shelter, posed as famous writers.

He created an IndieGoGo campaign to benefit the shelter and these dogs.
